Hey, remember when IRON MAN came out?

From Marvel's January 2010 solicitations.

From Marvel's January 2010 solicitations.

Marvel’s releasing a comic adaptation of the hit Jon Favreau film.

Eighteen months after its release.

I mean, I understand wanting to capitalize on the movie’s success, but wasn’t that what the Viva Las Vegas limited series was intended to do?

I guess it makes sense to use the sequel’s anticipation to sell more comics, I don’t begrudge them that. (And I’m the last person to complain about comic companies money-grabbing with movie tie-ins since I bought Wildstorm’s Snakes on a Plane.) It’s just odd that they would wait a year and a half to release the book. Actually, why not hold off until closer to Iron Man 2’s release date? Maybe make it a four issue series adapting both movies.

(I’m also the last person to complain about more Peter David comics.)
