Save S.W.O.R.D.

I’ve heard rumors that Marvel may cancel the best new series of 2009.

Print these out (PDFs, so you need Adobe Acrobat) add a note and your signature, fold them along the numbered lines (lines inside the fold), stick a stamp on it and drop it in the mail.

Note: If you make the first fold and the “From:” and address aren’t both visible, it wasn’t printed right. The address should be upside down compared to the image.

Like this:

(Pay no attention to the nerd behind the flyer.)

The PDFS:

WELOVESWORD02

WELOVESWORD01

Folding instructions (just in case)

  1. I’m going to repost the link onto my blog. This book needs to be not canceled!

  2. Thanks so much! I really appreciate the help spreading the word.

Figures. I picked up my comics at Charging Star yesterday and told Ryan to add S.W.O.R.D to my permanant pull list and here Marvel is dumping the title right behind shutting down Doc Voodoo and Warmachine. Why even bother with Marvel anymore? They are so busy saturating the market with substandard multiple titles with their X Men/ Avengers/Spiderman nonsense that there is no time for offshoots or original work to build a fanbase. That plus the not so epic crossover sagas that come out with increasingly higher prices and as Bill Engvall would say There’s Your Sign. Then they have the balls to put out something as bad as Widow/Marvel Girls and the Marvel Boy 3-ish.

  3. Hello! I really like that you started this campaign, so I linked it from a post I did over at The Weekly Crisis.

Lets keep this title in publication!!

  5. @Alton
With any luck, sales on the next issue will jump, given all the attention the campaign is getting.

Goddamn bastards. Why even start publishing something new only to kill it so soon? They just did it to Exiles for no reason. Now SWORD? It’s been one of the few new series that was good and had signs that would remain good throughout its run, and Marvel kills it? Urgh. I’m actually really frustrated about this. Sign me in.

  6. From what I’ve heard, it’s due to sales, it has nothing to do with editorial’s opinion of the book itself. I know that the editor and assistant editor both love S.W.O.R.D., but the sales aren’t quite there.

The same thing happened to Nextwave. The sales on that title weren’t high enough to continue producing it with that creative team.

I actually became interested in this title yesterday and put it on my permanent pull-list. I was going to pick up issue one – three this week and with news like this disturbs me. S.W.O.R.D is doing bad in sales but the Widow mini-series (UCK) and two Deadpool ongoings are doing fantastic? Maybe with the coming sales…S.W.O.R.D will do better with everyone’s ambition to keep it alive. If only they had advertised this series better….
