@mauricem
I agree that it was a good move, but just like DC, Marvel fumbled the ball. So many of the "name" mutants that were depowered have regained their abilities by now. At some point, the mutant population will grow (and has to, otherwise, no more X-Books) it's just a question of when and how the Decimation will be undone.

This was a bold and controversial move by Marvel, but well worth it. When we have so many mutants that they start letting in superheros that control trash (Debri), we know it's time to clean house. It reminded me of the original Crisis series which helped resolve all the inconsistencies in the DC universe time line.

@kevin n.
Another thing is that everything Avengers-related these past several years has somehow spun out of Disassembled and not anything that occurred prior to that.

It's a shame, because Busiek (and previous writers) told a lot of great stories that should be acknowledged.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your last sentence. Avengers Disassembled is a substantial part of Marvel History, the problem is that it has far more in common with One More Day than the stories you listed. The entire arc felt like an editorially mandated plot device and less of an epic event. I haven't read it in years, but what you've recapped pretty much confirmed my memories of the arc. I thought it felt rushed and had a lot of plot holes, which as an Avengers fan at that time was a big pill to swallow. Especially when compared to Kurt Busiek's run that was soooo strong in it's pacing and almost slavish reverence of continuity.

"with art by" You were already being too kind by that point. Seriously, that is the worst looking Spider-Man I have ever seen. Rob Liefeld could have done a better job.
